Fairchester Schools follow consistent steps and coordinated timelines during the admissions process. Most Fairchester Schools partner with Standard Application Online to provide a common online application, which simplifies the process by allowing families to apply to multiple schools using a single application.

Please visit the individual school’s website to view specific application requirements.  Or go to Standard Application Online (SAO) to set up an account and start the online common application. Once logged in, families can search for schools by grade level, location, type, and program.

While each School’s process varies, there are several common steps:

  • The Admissions Application typically includes:

Student Statement
Parent Statement
Transcripts for the current school year and previous years
Teacher Recommendations
Personal Recommendation

  • Admissions Events:

Schools host opportunities for families to tour their campuses, meet with students and faculty, and learn more about academic programs. These events take place during the school day, on weekends, and some evenings.

Many schools offer Student Visit or Shadow Days when prospective students may have the opportunity to spend time on campus and attend classes during a school day.

  • Interviews:

Parent and student interviews allow a school’s admission team to get to know your student and family better. This is also an opportunity for your family to ask questions and learn more about each school.

  • Standardized Testing:

Most Fairchester Schools use the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). Check each school’s website for specific requirements. These organizations currently provide options for in-person paper tests, computer-based tests at locations worldwide, and at-home online testing. Visit the SSAT or ISEE website for a full schedule of options and registration.

The Admissions process occurs primarily from October through March each year.  The general timeline follows:

October – January

  • Visit School Website and Request Information
  • Attend School Event
  • Begin Application
  • Schedule Interview
  • Complete Standardized Testing (if required)
  • Apply for Financial Aid

January

  • Complete the Application by the school’s Deadline
  • Finish Last Visits and Interviews

February

  • Admissions Decisions released and Financial Aid Grants awarded

March

  • Families make their decision!

Fairchester Schools believe standardized test scores can be helpful in the admissions process and important in understanding a student’s academic profile. Please visit each individual school’s website to learn more about standardized testing requirements. Most Fairchester Schools use the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). These organizations currently provide options for in-person paper tests, computer-based tests at locations worldwide, and at-home online testing. Visit the SSAT or ISEE website for a full schedule of options and registration.

Fairchester Schools allocate a significant portion of their annual budgets and award need-based financial aid to make a private school education more accessible and affordable to families. Admissions Directors welcome your questions and encourage families to ask about financial aid and the process during your interview. Because programs may differ at schools, inquire about financial aid early so your family has information on deadlines and requirements.

Most Fairchester Schools use School and Student Services (SSS), a third-party financial aid assessment platform. As part of the process, families complete a detailed questionnaire that gives schools information about your family’s financial situation and ability to contribute to a private school education. Visit School and Student Services (SSS) to get started.
