Wooster School

To be Gentle, Generous, Truthful, Kind, and Brave

Wooster School is guided by our Purpose, Promise, and Beliefs, which represent the natural evolution of the school’s mission since our founder, Reverend Aaron Coburn, charged us with preparing our students to be “gentle, generous, truthful, kind, and brave.” These commitments remind us that as a school community we must learn from the past, embrace the present, and look to the future as we prepare our graduates for college and lives of purpose in a world of increasing complexity and change. Our purpose is to prepare young people for fulfillment, happiness, and success in life through the rigorous and healthy development of intellect, conscience, body, and spirit.

“When I think of Wooster, I think of a place where a kid can be themselves. This place has so many opportunities with classes and electives, along with different groups and people you can hang out with. It is really a place where you can find yourself, find your interests, and do what you love.”

“Any child will be successful at a place like Wooster. They just have to seek out opportunities. It is a loving environment and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.”

“A great day of learning does not just look one way. We are very intentional in the way we structure our school days and weeks, and offer many different pathways and success stories within that structure.”
